"Guinean" balafon 22 keys
Balafon diatonic 22 keys :
Our balafons are all made with guéni Yiri, the wood traditionally used for the manufacturing of balafons in West Africa.
The balafon wood must be already dry for about ten years before being put in the oven for even more thorough drying.
We have, in addition to the traditional oven, passed the keys in a solar oven for several weeks.
This process allows us to save fuelwood on the one hand and on the other hand to obtain optimal drying of the keys without risk of degradation of the quality of the wood due to possible overheating.
The calabashes are perfectly hollowed out thanks to a soaking process of almost a month. They are then varnished to highlight the green color that the effects of the process have provided them.
The result is a balafon with a powerful sound, with a homogeneity of all the keys.
It is delivered by default with a pair of sticks with roud head and handle in balafon wood.
